When generating applications to send to

funders, you can control whether real merchant contact information is included to protect privacy and prevent funders from contacting merchants directly.

Choose contact info settings

When you click the Generate App button on a deal, you'll see the "Include Contact Info?" option with three choices:

  • Include Real Info – Uses the actual merchant email and phone number

  • Include Fake Info – Generates a scrambled version of the email and phone

  • Don't Include – Leaves email and phone fields blank on the application

To prevent funders from contacting merchants directly, select either "Include Fake Info" or "Don't Include" before generating the application.

Why this matters

Including real merchant contact information can lead to:

  • Funders bypassing you and contacting the merchant directly

  • Privacy concerns if the merchant didn't consent to their information being shared

  • Compliance risks depending on your agreements with merchants

The generate app popup also reminds you that generating an application certifies you have permission from the merchant to sign on their behalf.
