Import Deals with Lead Source Attribution via CSV

Before you import deals with lead source attribution via CSV, create each lead source in MCA Pilot manually. CSV upload does not create lead sources automatically.

Create lead sources first

Lead sources must exist in MCA Pilot before you import deals that reference them.

For guidance on managing lead sources, see Keeping track of Lead Sources and Batches.

Prepare the CSV file

Include a column for lead source data and use the exact column header MCA Pilot expects.

  • Download the CSV Import Template as a starting point.

  • Check Settings > Fields to verify the exact field name for lead source.

  • Alternatively, export an existing deal to see the column header MCA Pilot uses.

Import new deals

When importing new deals, the column names in your CSV must match MCA Pilot field names exactly.

  1. Prepare your CSV with a column for lead source data. Use the exact field name shown in Settings > Fields.

  2. Go to Deals and click Import.

  3. Upload the CSV and test with one deal first.

  4. Verify the lead source field populated correctly.

Update existing deals

When updating existing deals, you can map any CSV column to the lead source field.

  1. Prepare your CSV with a lead source column.

  2. Go to Deals and click Update. See How to Bulk Update Deals via CSV for full instructions.

  3. Upload the CSV and map your column to the lead source field.

  4. Test with one deal before updating the rest.

Bank statements, submissions, offers, and funding details cannot be imported via CSV. Lead sources must also be created manually in MCA Pilot before import.

Fix blank lead source after import

If the lead source field is empty after import:

  • Confirm the lead source already exists in MCA Pilot.

  • Check that the CSV column header matches the field name exactly.

  • Remove hidden characters or extra tabs from the source values.
