How to Import Deals via CSV

You can bulk import deals using a CSV file. This is useful for adding leads, migrating from another system, or uploading deals in bulk. The import creates basic deal records—submissions, offers, and funding details must be added manually after import.

If you need to export deals or owner data, see How to Export All Deals and Owners.

How to Import Deals

  1. Prepare your CSV file with at least a "Company" column (other columns are optional).

  2. Go to Deals and click the Import button in the toolbar.

  3. Upload your CSV file.

  4. Test with one deal first to confirm it imports correctly before uploading the full file.

Owner information, bank statements, submissions, offers, and funding details cannot be imported via CSV. You'll need to add these manually after importing deals.

CSV Import Template

Download the official template: CSV Import Template (Google Drive)

The template includes these columns (only business_name is required; all others are optional):

business_name, dba, business_address1, business_address2, business_city, business_state, business_zip, ein, start_date, entity_type, industry, website, business_phone, business_email, owner1_name, owner1_first

Example rows:

business_name, dba, business_address1, business_address2, business_city, business_state, business_zip, ein, start_date, entity_type, industry, website, business_phone, business_email, owner1_name, owner1_first

You can export an existing deal to see the exact column headers MCA Pilot expects, or check Settings > Fields for custom field mappings.

Common Import Issues

Fields Not Populating

If fields aren't importing correctly:

  • Ensure column names match exactly (e.g., Email not Email -).

  • Remove hidden characters or extra tabs in company names.

  • Clean your CSV in Excel or Google Sheets before uploading.

  • Check Settings > Fields to verify custom field names.

File Size or Upload Errors

Large CSV files may be slow to process but often succeed. If you encounter errors:

  • Test with a small batch (10-20 deals) first.

  • Remove unnecessary formatting or columns.

  • Keep file sizes under 50MB when possible.

Processing time depends on the number of deals. The import may take a few moments—wait for the confirmation message before navigating away.

What Cannot Be Imported

The CSV import only creates basic deal records. The following must be added manually after import:

  • Submissions to lenders

  • Offers and approvals

  • Funding details and advances

  • Bank statements

  • Owner contact details (email, phone, SSN, DOB, address)

For instructions on adding previously funded deals after import, see How to Add Previous Funded Deals.
