When you import a lead package, you can attribute every deal to the lead source it came from right in the importer — and the import is tracked as a batch under that source, so your per-batch ROI numbers (deals in, submitted, funded, cost per funded deal) fill in automatically as the leads are worked.
Create lead sources first
Lead sources must exist in MCA Pilot before you attribute deals to them — the importer picks from your existing sources but doesn't create new ones.
For guidance on managing lead sources, see Keeping track of Lead Sources and Batches.
Attribute during the import (recommended)
Run your import as usual — see How to Import Deals in Bulk (CSV, Excel & Document Packages).
On the Options step, find the Lead source card and pick the provider this package came from.
Choose Create a batch for this import (the default — name it after the purchase, e.g. the sheet you were sent) or Add to an existing batch if this package belongs to one you already track.
That's it — every imported deal is linked to the source and the batch, the batch records the lead count and date received, and the results CSV includes a
lead_sourcecolumn.
Open the batch in MCA Pilot afterward to add what you paid for it — with the price in, the per-dollar metrics (funded per dollar spent, commission per dollar spent) light up too.
Attribute after the fact (Update button)
Forgot to pick a source, importing older deals, or need different sources per row? Attribute with the Update button instead:
Download the import's results CSV — its
deal_idcolumn identifies every deal you created — and add a column with each deal's lead source.Go to Deals and click Update, then upload the file.
In the mapping step, map
deal_idto Id and your new column to the lead source field.Test with one deal first, then apply the rest. See How to Bulk Update Deals via CSV for full instructions.
Submissions, offers, and funding details can't be imported or bulk-updated. And lead sources must already exist in MCA Pilot — a value that doesn't match an existing lead source won't attach.
Fix a blank lead source
If a deal's lead source is empty:
Easiest: re-attribute via the Update recipe above — the results CSV makes the id mapping painless.
Confirm the lead source already exists in MCA Pilot, spelled the same way.
If you used Update: check the mapping — your column must be mapped to the lead source field, and
deal_idto Id — and remove hidden characters or extra spaces from the source values.
